Waxstock was set up in 2012 as a joint venture between Detailing World and Dodo Juice, to give the detailing community a professionally run annual event. Historically, at least two (large) specialist events companies had tried to launch some kind of detailing show, but a lack of expertise, experience and prioritisation had led to these projects failing. It was at this point that the 'Waxstock Three' got together as first time show organisers to create an event and bankroll the event deep into 'brand new BMW 5 series' territory.

With live music and a parachute jump, Waxstock 1 was ambitious and managed to attract about 1000 detailing enthusiasts to Peterborough Showground. It made a large financial loss, however, and whilst many events organisers would have written the project off to experience, the organisers were made of sterner stuff and ploughed on with Waxstock 2...

After the third year, Waxstock moved to Ricoh (now CBS) Arena, the current home of the show). Today, over a decade after launch, it attracts up to 4000 visitors in a single day (many from overseas) and exhibitors from all over the world. From the largest companies, like 3M, to the smallest start-ups... from enthusiastic amateurs to legendary transatlantic detailers and international CEOs... Waxstock has welcomed them all. And after a break in proceedings during 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, we welcomed attendees back in 2022 and have now expanded the show for our tenth year show. Yes, the 10th Anniversary Waxstock will be held over two days in 2023...
